Trump Reportedly Blocked Israel’s Plan to Assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader: What’s Behind His Decision?

Trump Reportedly Opposed Israeli Plan to Kill Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei

A recent report reveals that former U.S. President Donald Trump rejected a proposal by Israel to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to three American officials who spoke to CBS News, Trump advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that such a move was “not a good idea.”

The conversation reportedly occurred in the wake of escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, following a series of military strikes exchanged by both nations.

During a Fox News interview, Netanyahu declined to confirm or deny the claim, stating, "There are so many false reports of conversations that never happened... I’m not going to get into that." He emphasized Israel's right to take necessary actions and said the U.S. understands what is in its own national interest.

An Israeli official told CBS News that while Israel does not typically target political figures, it focuses on those involved in nuclear and military programs. “Those directing those programs shouldn’t be living comfortably,” the source said.

The situation intensified after Israel launched attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities on Friday. The mutual strikes have continued into a third day, escalating concerns across the region.

Trump, posting on his Truth Social platform, called on Iran and Israel to negotiate peace, boasting that he could broker a deal similar to what he claims he achieved between India and Pakistan. Despite this, he reiterated U.S. support for Israel and warned that any attack on American interests by Iran would trigger an unprecedented military response.

Meanwhile, hopes for U.S.-Iran nuclear diplomacy suffered a setback. Scheduled peace talks were canceled after Iran informed intermediaries from Qatar and Oman that it would not consider ceasefire talks while under active Israeli bombardment.

Tensions remain high, and the world watches closely as the possibility of broader conflict looms.

💭 Do you think Trump made the right call by blocking the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, or should he have let Israel proceed?
