First Lady Melania Trump has issued a legal threat to Hunter Biden, demanding over $1 billion in damages after he alleged she was introduced to her husband, Donald Trump, by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a strongly worded letter, her lawyers called Biden’s statement “false, defamatory, and malicious”, insisting it has caused serious financial and reputational harm. The letter demands an immediate retraction and public apology — or a courtroom battle could follow.
Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, made the claim in a recent interview, where he sharply criticized Donald Trump’s past connection to Epstein. Although Trump had once been friendly with Epstein, he insists their friendship ended in the early 2000s after a personal dispute.
The First Lady’s legal team accused Hunter of recycling false claims to gain publicity, citing his “history of exploiting high-profile names.” They noted his remarks were partly drawn from a now-removed Daily Beast article, which has since been retracted and apologized for following legal pressure from Melania’s lawyers.
Melania Trump has consistently maintained she met Donald Trump in November 1998 at a modeling industry party — years before Epstein’s scandals became public. Harper’s Bazaar once reported she initially refused to give Trump her phone number because he was “with a date.”
This legal clash emerges amid growing calls for the release of the so-called Epstein files — a trove of documents tied to the disgraced financier’s criminal case. While Trump has previously pledged to make them public if re-elected, U.S. authorities maintain no “incriminating client list” exists.
With $1 billion at stake, the dispute between the former First Lady and the President’s son could become one of the most politically explosive legal battles of the year.
Do you think Melania Trump’s $1B lawsuit will protect her reputation — or make the Epstein controversy even bigger?
