During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, Greene stressed that although she still supports Trump politically, she rejects his stance on keeping the Epstein documents sealed.
She warned that Trump’s recent attacks — including calling her a “traitor” — have increased political hostility and placed her personal safety at risk.
“Labeling me a traitor is incredibly dangerous. Words like that can radicalize people and endanger my life,” Greene said.
A Conflict Fueled by the Epstein Files
Tensions between the two Republicans have escalated sharply in recent weeks.
Greene has insisted the Department of Justice must release every record related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump responded with a fiery post on Truth Social, branding Greene “wacky,” “a ranting lunatic,” and someone who “complains nonstop.”
Although Trump’s post didn’t explicitly mention the documents, Greene stated that their fallout is “entirely about the Epstein files.”
Congress Expected to Vote on Releasing the Files
The House is preparing to vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a proposal requiring the DOJ to publish all unclassified records, communications, and investigative material linked to Epstein.
Republican Rep. Thomas Massie told ABC News that up to 100 GOP lawmakers may support the measure, signaling strong bipartisan interest in public transparency.
Trump’s Past Ties to Epstein Under Scrutiny
Trump and Epstein were acquaintances in the early 2000s before a personal dispute ended the relationship.
The president has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and claims he distanced himself from Epstein long before the scandal intensified.
Still, Trump faces criticism from both Democrats and Republicans for his reluctance to open the files.
Greene said she wants accountability — regardless of status:
“Americans deserve the truth. Wealthy or powerful individuals should not be shielded from justice.”
She added that Epstein’s victims have told her Trump did nothing illegal, though she questions why he is resisting transparency.
A Call to End Political Toxicity
Greene says she wants to move away from the hyper-polarized rhetoric that has divided American communities.
She urged leaders — including Trump — to set a healthier example.
However, critics note her history of promoting conspiracy theories and controversial social media content.
Greene reiterated her past apologies and emphasized forgiveness as a core part of her Christian beliefs.
Do you think releasing all Epstein files would increase public trust — or create even more political tension in the U.S.?
