🚨 Russia Escalates Bombings as US–Ukraine Peace Talks Claim “Real Progress” — Is Putin Ready for Peace or Total War?

Russia Intensifies Air Strikes Amid Peace Negotiations

Russia carried out one of its largest overnight assaults on Ukraine’s infrastructure just as US–Ukraine peace discussions entered a third day in Florida.
Officials reported 653 drones and 51 missiles launched, with most intercepted. A railway station in Fastiv, southwest of Kyiv, was obliterated, damaging trains and critical transport lines.

🚨 Russia Escalates Bombings as US–Ukraine Peace Talks Claim “Real Progress”

President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the assault as “militarily pointless”, arguing Moscow knew its strike would only impact civilians.

Russian authorities continue to insist they are hitting energy facilities, ports, and military-industrial sites.

Talks Move Forward — But Trust Remains Fragile

Following failed progress in Moscow, American and Ukrainian negotiators urged Russia to demonstrate genuine commitment to peace.
US envoy Steve Witkoff said discussions so far were “constructive” and focused on:

  • Security guarantees for Ukraine
  • Long-term deterrence against future Russian aggression
  • Reducing the immediate threat of escalation

However, no details of the evolving peace framework have been released publicly.

Widespread Blackouts and Nuclear Security Concerns

Russian attacks have severely impacted Ukraine’s energy network in eight different regions, causing rolling blackouts.
There are renewed fears over Europe’s largest nuclear plant — Zaporizhzhia — which again lost external power, the 11th time since the full-scale invasion.

Without electricity, the plant risks overheating and a catastrophic meltdown.

Kyiv Accuses Moscow of Undermining Peace Efforts

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia’s actions show “no interest in real peace” while civilians remain the primary targets.
Ukraine insists the world must increase pressure on Moscow rather than delay support “in the name of diplomacy.”

Putin Threatens “Forceful Liberation” of Donbas

Russia currently controls around 20% of Ukraine, including most of Donetsk and Luhansk.
In a new warning, Putin told India Today:

“If Ukrainian forces do not withdraw from Donbas, Russia will liberate these territories by force.”

This stance clashes directly with Ukraine’s demand for sovereign territory and NATO-aligned security after the war.

A Divided Global Strategy for Peace

While the Kremlin says Putin is willing to keep meeting US negotiators, Kyiv and European leaders doubt his sincerity, citing:

  • Continued missile attacks during peace talks
  • Refusal to consider territorial compromises
  • Opposition to Ukraine joining NATO

Donald Trump has also hinted he will block Ukraine’s NATO membership, a move Kyiv fears could leave the country exposed to future attacks.

❓What Do You Think?

Are these peace talks a real step toward ending the war, or is Russia using negotiations as a smokescreen for a deeper offensive?
