Allegations of Political Bias
Trump criticized the paper’s endorsement of Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential race, describing it as proof that the outlet had become a "mouthpiece for the Radical Left Democrat Party." He argued that the paper’s editorial stance was deliberately crafted to damage his political career.
The Newspaper Responds
A spokesperson for The New York Times dismissed the lawsuit, calling it "an attempt to silence and discourage independent journalism." They further emphasized that the publication "will not be deterred by intimidation tactics," insisting the lawsuit holds no merit.
Previous Lawsuits Against Media Outlets
This isn’t Trump’s first clash with mainstream media. Recently, he reached multimillion-dollar settlements with ABC News and Paramount’s CBS News after filing lawsuits. He is also pursuing legal action against The Wall Street Journal for its coverage of the Epstein scandal.
In the past, Trump’s lawsuits against The New York Times and CNN were dismissed. Notably, a $100 million case related to his tax records and a $475 million defamation claim comparing him to Adolf Hitler were thrown out by federal judges.
